I’m calling this #1 because pointless articles are the DM’s speciality.
Does anyone care?!
Never shy of taking advantage of a tragedy, the DM must have posted around 50 articles solely about the Boston Marathon bombings, by now. They have already tried to sell us 3 symbols of the event so far (elderly runner, 18 year old girl, lady who saw her sister lose a leg), demonstrating how hard they’re working to be the ones to create an iconic image of the unfortunate event.
What’s really mind numbing is that it’s all ok in the name of “journalism”. Hasn’t any one of them stopped to think that maybe, just maybe, they should try and respect the victims and families of this tragedy, instead of researching about them and their close ones, plastering their details online for all to see and relentlessly hounding for details, just for the sake of a few more readers?
This doesn’t need any sensationalism to be extremely sad, but that’s exactly what they did:
RIP the 3 victims and hopes of speedy recoveries to all the injured.
Every day, thousands and thousands of people go on MailOnline to get their news and gossip fix, which would be fine and dandy if the people who wrote for the Daily Mail were actually educated journalists. But they’re not.
From their numerous campaigns to stop bullying to their endless articles about celebrity acne breakouts, their hypocrisy is akin to none and the disrespect they treat celebrities or commoners, like us plebs, with is slightly gut wrenching. They use words like ‘hilarious’, ‘breathtaking’ and ‘heartbreaking’ so much that readers are begging them to read a thesaurus and finally figure out what them words mean. And you know when you click on an article which title reads something like “The exact moment…” you’re going for an intrusive, highly assumptive piece of journalistic excrement.
Also, they allow Liz Jones and Samantha Brick to randomly click keys on a word processor and then post it for everyone to read. If that isn’t reason enough to create this blog, I don’t know what is.
